Abstract. An in-house Navier-Stokes multiphase VOF (Volume-Of-Fluid) solver is used to study sloshing phenomena in a partially filled rectangular tank subjected vertical sinusoidal excitation. The flow dynamics found be significantly affected by acceleration and forcing frequency. Specifically, when the strong excitation frequency low, exhibits more chaotic three-dimensional nature. Consequently, certain properties such as energy dissipation mixing efficiency of system are poorly predicted two-dimensional simulations that range parameters, making expensive necessary. time history force instantaneous visualizations analyze effects liquid impacting on walls exchanges between fluid tank.
